We like to imagine traveling in space …. crossing the solar system to the most distant galaxies. But what if this “journey” was simply done within our mind?
If we reflect a little, everything we perceive seems to be a repetition of “patterns”.
An atom, for example, is like a miniature solar system, with a narrow core that plays the role of a sun orbited by electrons like planets. There are around 100 Trillion Atoms in a typical human cell. A Human body has an average of 37 Trillion Cells.
The Milky Way is the Galaxy that contains our Solar System. Its size is estimated between 150,000 and 200,000 light-years. The Milky Way is estimated to contain between 100 billion and 400 billion stars (as you can see, despite being astronomically close enough, the numbers have remarkably large approximations). We could say that in the “microcosmos”, our body is much “bigger” than the Milky Way … we could consider it a “Mini Universe” made up of several galaxies.
The smallest known particle to date is the “Quark”.
The word “particle” often evokes a tiny image of a ball that is omnipresent in physics textbooks. However, structure and behavior are extremely different from what we could imagine. In the realm of quantum mechanics, the definition of form is not simple. Their physical properties cannot be measured accurately and their existence in a particular region can only be defined by probabilities.
All we know about the size of the quarks is that they are smaller than the resolution of any measuring instrument that we have been able to use. In other words, it has never been proven that they have any dimensions. Most physicists suspect that they are not actually dots and we don’t know how small they really are.
However, through some studies scientists have tried to define, as much as possible, the hypothetical Quark size. The latest study would say that they are about one billionth of a billionth of a centimeter (over 10,000 times smaller than 1 atom … (but as just stated, it is not possible to give an accurate measurement)
We should therefore reflect on the fact that we have objective difficulties in perceiving both the Cosmos and the Micro Cosmos. There are limits (those of the observable) beyond which we cannot go. The question that arises then is: If instead of the eyes we had sensors much, much more sophisticated … if instead of the brain that works following certain logics we had a much more advanced apparatus capable of giving space to much more advanced logics .. would we see the same things?
It seems that what we can see is simply the projection of what our mind shows us and is able to process. It’s like traveling within our own brain … between neurons and synapses.
There are many similarities and similarities between the functioning of our mind and the “outer world” … The outer Universe appears to be the projection of the Inner Universe.
A study published on The Astrophysical Journal in
October revealed that hundreds of galaxies rotated in sync with the motions of galaxies that were tens of millions of light years away from them. This may suggest a connection and a relationship between them.
Franco Vazza (Astrophysicist) and Alberto Feletti (neuroscientist) have joined forces to quantitatively compare the complexity of galaxy networks and neuronal networks. The first results of their comparison were truly surprising: not only are the complexities of the brain and the cosmic network are actually similar, but their structures are similar too.
The universe can be self-similar (extremely similar), on different scales, by a factor of one billion billion billion.
The total number of neurons in the human brain are comparable with the number of galaxies in the observable universe.
The results, published on November 16, 2012, in the journal Nature’s Scientific Reports, suggest that some undiscovered fundamental laws may similarly govern the growth of large and small systems, from the synapses of brain cells to the growth of social networks up to galaxy expansion … Incredible, isn’t it?
“The dynamics of natural growth are the same for different real networks, such as the Internet or the brain or social networks,” said study co-author Dmitri Krioukov (physicist at the University of California at San Diego).
The new study suggests that a single fundamental law of nature can govern these networks, said the University of Houston physicist Kevin Bassler, who was not involved in the study.
It is strange to say the least to find many similarities between microcosmos and macro cosmos and it is even stranger that there can be a “fundamental law” capable of governing, in the same way, totally “different” systems. Provided that it is not all the result of the same matrix … of the same author: Our Conscious Consciousness.
… And God created Man in his image and likeness … (Genesis: 1,26,28) … It seems the essay that documents how we are only able to replicate and observe systems and elements similar to ourselves. For this reason, we see the Universe in a certain way and for this reason, we will never be able to discover its origins … precisely because we should get out of our mind as that Universe … is nothing but the reflection of 1000 trillions of synapses closed inside our brain …
